LET'S BUILD THE CHICKS
This educational and environmental project, aimed at school-age children and youth, aims to combine active outdoor learning with real- world environmental action . The project, implemented with financial support from the ORLEN Foundation , is designed to develop participants' environmental awareness, teach responsibility for the natural world around us, and demonstrate that even small actions can have a significant impact on preserving biodiversity.

The project addresses both the educational needs of young people and the environmental challenges associated with the limited number of natural nesting sites for cavity-nesting birds. Modern forests, especially relatively young ones, often do not provide suitable conditions for the establishment and breeding of many bird species. In such situations, humans come to the rescue by building and installing nesting boxes in forests, parks, and green spaces. This initiative supports nature conservation while also educating participants about environmental awareness .

During the workshops, participants participate in a nature lesson conducted in the field , learning about bird species and their habits, and also participate in a falconry demonstration combined with a discussion of the biology of raptors and cavity-nesting birds. A key element of the project is the collaborative assembly and decoration of nesting boxes , which are then installed in their natural environment during an educational walk. This allows children and young people not only to gain knowledge but also to see the direct impact of their work.
The workshops culminate in a bonfire, a meal, and a wrap-up session, during which participants receive certificates and souvenirs of participation. The workshop is designed for team-building and allows for the consolidation of acquired knowledge in a friendly, field-based atmosphere.
The project can be implemented for school and organized groups, and its program is adapted to the age of the participants and local conditions.
