What We Do – Fundacja Z Mojego Łowiska
At Fundacja Z Mojego Łowiska, we translate our passion for nature into concrete action. Our work focuses on hands-on education, direct conservation efforts, and community empowerment.
Although we are a young foundation (established in 2021), we have already launched several impactful initiatives that reflect our core mission. Here is an overview of our key projects and activities:
1. Little Rescuer – Little Naturalist (Mały Ratownik – Mały Przyrodnik)
This is our flagship educational program and an innovative project on a national scale. We are the first in Poland to combine:
Outdoor nature lessons: Teaching children about local ecosystems, wildlife, and the environment in a hands-on setting.
Falconry demonstrations: Showcasing the ancient art of falconry to build a connection with birds of prey.
First aid training: Providing practical, age-appropriate instruction on how to respond in emergencies, including the use of an AED.
Off-road ambulance demonstrations: Introducing children to emergency vehicles and the work of first responders.
This program is designed to create memorable, empowering experiences that teach children that nature is exciting, helping others is rewarding, and everyone has a role in protecting our world.
2. Let's Build the Chicks (ZABUDKUJMY LASKI)
This project addresses the critical shortage of natural nesting cavities for birds, caused by modern forestry and habitat loss. Our goals are to:
Install 120 nesting boxes for various bird species in the Lower Silesia region, creating safe homes for breeding and raising young.
Engage the community by involving volunteers, schools, and local groups in the installation and monitoring process.
Collect valuable data on local bird populations and breeding success through citizen science.
By protecting these birds, we help control insect populations, disperse seeds, and maintain the overall health of our forests.
3. Wild Beekeeping (Bartnictwo) – A Return to Tradition
We are leading an initiative to revive the ancient Polish tradition of wild beekeeping (bartnictwo), which represents a sustainable and respectful relationship with nature. In partnership with the Bee Brotherhood (which maintains 35 beehives in the Augustów Forest), we are:
Hosting unique workshops in Lower Silesia to teach traditional beekeeping skills.
Promoting the protection of wild bees by raising awareness about the threats they face from habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change.
Preserving cultural heritage by passing on centuries-old knowledge that is at risk of being lost.
4. The Secret Life of Bees (Sekretne Życie Pszczół)
These workshops introduce children and young people (from age 4 and up) to the fascinating world of bees. Through engaging, hands-on activities, participants learn about:
The work of a beekeeper
The structure of a hive
Honey production, wax, propolis, and bee frames
The goal is to inspire wonder and curiosity about nature, using bees as a gateway to broader environmental awareness. When children understand the complexity and beauty of bees, they are more likely to become lifelong advocates for protecting our environment.
5. First Aid (Pierwsza Pomoc)
This project responds to the critical need for first aid skills in our communities. Through practical, age-appropriate workshops, we teach children and young people how to:
Assess a life-threatening situation.
Properly summon help.
Provide basic life support and care for the injured.
We believe that a community trained in first aid is stronger, more resilient, and better equipped to care for itself.
Our Future Vision: An Educational Park and Wildlife Rehabilitation Center
Looking ahead, we are working to establish an Educational Park and Wild Animals Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Lower Silesia. This center will:
Provide care for injured wild birds and animals.
Offer educational opportunities about wildlife, conservation, and human-animal coexistence.
While there are several such centers in Poland, there is a continued need for greater capacity and comprehensive support for our wild animals. This center will be a significant step toward that goal.
